How Plastic Surgery Changed My Life

I wouldn’t advise plastic surgery for everyone, but it indeed changed my life for the better. I was born with ears that stuck out unusually far. Which as a child was adorable, but as I got older they really caused me a lot of pain. I don’t mean physical pain, but the emotional kind. I was constantly teased and harassed all through my childhood and teenage years. Until one day, I sat down with my mother and we talked about plastic surgery. We decided to look into it and to see how much the procedure would cost. That was five years ago to this day, and my life has never been the same. I am confident, happy, and always ready to take on the world. Sometimes I see young people with physical deformities that go deeper than just “building character”. They have large cleft chin scars, acne scars, and noses that are simply too large for their faces. I tell them that t hey should look into plastic surgery as well. There comes a time when you need to be a truer you. I tell them the story of how plastic surgery changed my life. Plastic surgery was the best decision that I have ever made for myself. My mother is happier too, because she has a happy son. Thanks mom, plastic surgery really did change my life.

Dental Cosmetic Surgery & Braces

One of the newest fads Americans are turning to in regards to cosmetic surgery is in the area of dental work. There are many different options for these procedures and although the drawback of this avenue is the expense, if it is pursued the results are usually very beneficial.

Let's face it, what is the first thing most of us notice about someone we're just meeting? If you said it is their smile, you are in the majority of Americans polled with their eyes being a close second.

People go to great lengths to have a perfect smile and the consensus is that the lengths are well worth it because the end result can actually be life changing.

Most of us who get the bi-annual dental check-up have a good chance at keeping our original teeth and if you can add flossing as well as brushing to that repertoire, you're in really good shape.
I've only known a handful of people who were blessed with perfectly aligned teeth, and didn't have a need for braces; and more than half of my generation has worn braces at one time during their lifetime. Braces used to be thought of as something only children would get but this has changed greatly over the years and many adults who were unable to afford braces as a child but are still in need of them, have gone through the procedure in hopes of achieving that perfect smile.

Mostly children were seen to wear braces at one time and the whole process of banding and connecting each tooth was not just time consuming but at every "adjustment" it could be incredibly painful. "Metal mouth" and "Brace Face" were the terms my friends heard while they were young and suffering for their eventual smile but today there are what is called invisible braces and they are clear plastic and difficult to see. This has afforded many adults the luxury of not having the mouth of a teenager or a pre-teen with a full metal-mouth and is a big reason for the increase in adults putting the money out for braces for themselves. The cost of braces can be between four and eight thousand dollars and although it may have been covered by insurance for children, most likely will need to be paid for out-of-pocket for the adults.

Maybe a new trend will evolve where the poor acne-ridden pre-teens and teens won't have to worry about being teased for wearing braces and they can put it off until they're adults where they will be (a little) less likely to be teased by co-workers! I wonder if waiting will be beneficial because the braces are not placed into the mouth of someone who is still growing and any changes that have been made with the braces may become undone with the natural process of growing. Is there a worse time in someone's life than adolescence where everyone is self-conscious of every little change that is taking place in their body? Maybe getting braces as an adult would address that for us.
