What You Always Wanted to Know About Cosmetic Surgery

Many people are considering cosmetic procedures more than ever. Cosmetic surgery involves altering areas of the body, so one should keep in mind that like any other surgery, it comes with possible risks or complications. Although most complications can be minor such as scarring or infection, there are major complications and a rare few have even resulted in death. A patient therefore needs to make an informed decision before consenting to any procedure. The following are some factors that need to be considered before one undergoes cosmetic surgery: (1) The doctor who will perform the surgery - Make sure that your doctor has the necessary qualifications. Cosmetic surgery should only be done by well-trained and experienced doctors in the field. Talk to your doctor about his education, qualifications, experience and license. Any reputable doctor should be open to this discussion. Usually, the qualifications of established doctors can also be checked online. (2) The facility where the surgery will be performed - Surgery can be done either in a hospital or a private clinic. While hospitals have certain standards and law requirements to meet, these are not generally applicable to clinics. If you are considering surgery outside of a hospital, make sure the clinic has all the needed equipment, the ability to control complications, defined emergency procedures, and well-trained personnel. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

A lot of advertisements are going around about enhancing the size of a man's penis. The advertisements focus on the use of pills, pumps and other creative method to give a man a larger penis. None of these methods have been proven to actually work when it comes to enlarging a man's penis. The more invasive method of enlarging a man's penis is cosmetic surgery. There are various ways that cosmetic surgery can be done to enlarge a man's penis. Whether it be the length or the girth of the penis. The American Urological Association, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons(ASPS) all three do not support these surgeries for cosmetic reasons. Cosmetic surgery of the penis has many negative side effects and has never been medically proven to be successful in giving a man a larger penis.

Despite the negative side effects and the lack of approval from medical associations, there are some surgeons that will perform cosmetic surgery on a man's penis for purely

cosmetic reasons.

One surgery that may be used is to is to cut the suspensory ligament in an attempt to add length to the penis. The suspensory ligament is what connects the penis to the pubic bone. Once the ligament is cut the surgeon will then move skin from the abdomen to the penile shaft. The down side to this surgical procedure is that without the ligament intact the penis will be wobbly while it is erect. Which will make it harder to use your now longer penis.

Surgeons also have another cosmetic surgery method in which they will use to try and add more length to the penis. During this method the surgeon will try and move forward a skin flap from the pubic area directly onto the penis. This excess skin is moved on to the penis is used to give a flaccid penis more length. It has not been proven to actually give more length to an erect penis. The down side to this method is that it can cause severe deformities, scarring and various other problems with the performance of the penis.

For those that are wanting a thicker penis some surgeons are offering cosmetic surgery that will add more fat to the penis. During this procedure the surgeon will inject fat tissues into the penis. The fat tissue can come from fat in the buttocks, abdomen or from fat tissues on a dead body. Usually the body will reabsorb the fat tissue over time leaving the penis with an abnormal contour. Thus causing major deformities to the penis.

All of the procedures can lead to health problems such as scarring and infections. Even if the procedure does not cause any health risks, they still pose other risks. These risks include the loss of sensation in the penis, the loss of the ability to obtain an erection, as well as severe deformities. It is for all these reasons that medical associations do not endorse cosmetic surgery for pure cosmetic reasons such as enlarging the length or girth of a man's penis.
