Today's breast and buttock implants, for example, are done with much more lifelike and safety-driven materials than the saline or silicone products of the past: alloplastic materials, used beneath the skin to alter the shape or curvature of the body, are revolutionizing the field. These materials are nonallergenic, noncarcinogenic, and can't be rejected by the body.

The rise in technology has also reduced the cost of common cosmetic surgeries. Breast implants, which were once as expensive as a new home, are now available for just a few thousand dollars, while blemish removal can often be done in less than an hour in a shopping-mall clinic.

Some of the deepest chemical peels may require a break from activities for one to two weeks. A person that has fair skin, light hair, a wrinkled face, age and sun spots on the face, freckles, or splotching of the face and who wants a fresher look is a perfect candidate for a chemical peel. A chemical peel procedure does not correct sagging, bulges and furrows on the face. These conditions are treated better by other cosmetic surgery procedures. Not everyone is suitable for a chemical peel procedure. Before you have a chemical peel your surgeon must evaluate your background, age, color and skin type, to help prevent any unforeseen complications.
